At St Chad's, we offer 31.25 school hours across the week.
Our school day begins for all children promptly at 9am.
To support some of our parents who are doing several school drop-offs in the morning and to reduce overcrowding outside of school, we open our main school gate (located on Gordon Road) at 8:45am. Our school gate closes promptly at 9am. We kindly ask that parents form a line alongside Gordon Road when arriving in the morning, behind our metal signage.
All children are offered a free breakfast bagel on arrival into school.
We are committed to ensuring the safety and welfare of everybody in our school. Children should be accompanied to school by a parent/carer/responsible adult. Parking outside of our school gate on the yellow zig-zag lines is strictly prohibited. We kindly ask that our school cones are not moved.
Staff members come out between 8:45am-9:00am to support on our main school gate and main front door. We like to start off our school day with a friendly smile and warm greeting to all of our children and families. Staff members are available should you need to speak to anybody about any aspect of school life (if we feel that a longer appointment might be more advantageous then a booking will be made via our main school office).
We encourage all of our children to take responsibility for their own belongings. We encourage our children to:
- Remember and bring their book bags to school every day.
- Carry their own book bags.
- Remove their own coat independently.
- Locate their own peg independently.
- Put away their book bag independently.
We ask that all children wear PE kits to school on their allocated PE days (confirmation of PE days will be shared with parents/carers via Class Dojo).
Any parent wishing to enter the main school building must sign in at our main school office. If you need to collect you child during the school day e.g. to attend an appointment, please report to the school office. Arrangements will be made for your child to join you there, and you will be asked to sign out. This is an important health and safety requirement for fire evacuation procedures. Proof of any appointments will be required.
We operate a morning Nursery from 9:00am-12:00pm and an afternoon Nursery from 12:15pm-3:15pm.
At the end of the day, our main school gate is opened promptly at 3:15pm. Our gate remains open for ten minutes to help minimise overcrowding. We have an allocated parent/carer waiting area for each Key Stage alongside Gordon Road (signage is put out to help show parents/carers where to wait). Children must be picked up by a parent/carer or known adult. Staff are available at home time to say a fond farewell to the children and to speak to parents.
